My friend Amy asked me if I would create a "centerpiece" for a church lunch celebrating December birthdays. The church will auction the "centerpiece" off and the money goes back to the church. I didn't even hesitate when I said yes because Jon's grandmother is probably the eldest member of the church, is extremely active in the church, and she will be celebrating her 92nd birthday in a few weeks (so she will be at the December birthday luncheon)! Here's the before:
I asked my sister to give me (yes, free) four bar stools from Louisville's famous Galt House. The hotel was going through mass renovations and as an employee, my sister was lucky enough to get whatever she wanted! Yeah, Andee! And here's the after:
After five coats of each color, a ton of hours, ribbons, glitter and glossy varnish, the stool is now cool! I planned to write a verse about the birth of Jesus, but I didn't want it to just be a Christmas piece. I've been so excited about giving this year, so I incorporated that onto the actual seat. Do you see the glitter swirl? Subtle, but fun.
My friend Amy told me that she would like the stool early so people can look at it...silent bidding. The actual bidding will take place on December 20 after church, during the birthday luncheon. If you are local and interested, it will be at the Deer Creek church.
I really hope that I make Grandmother proud with my artsy stool. I also hope that my artwork can generate some money for the church. Happy bidding!
